Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend using fully charged equipment for the best experience. The tablets will experience functional degradation if the battery goes under 20%. The external battery pack will power the headset until it runs out, but we recommend keeping the charge above 50% to preserve the battery's useful life.

The external battery pack will keep the headset charged. Therefore, you typically won’t need to charge the headset. However, if the equipment has not been used for multiple days, it is best practice to leave the headset plugged into the 100W charging brick for 5-10 minutes to allow it to charge before use.

No – Mynd+ requires an internet connection for the tablet and headset to communicate. If you need to use your system in offline mode, please contact Mynd technical support about switching to Mynd Essentials.

We recommend a minimum bandwidth requirement of 20 Mbps download speeds, however there are other factors that can also contribute to network deterioration such as congestion, latency and distance from the router.

We strongly discourage the use of cellular hotspots. This method will not allow the system to operate appropriately. If you need a hotspot, we have approved devices you can purchase from us.

Yes – simply leave the password section blank, select the network and confirm.

No – Mynd Essentials is designed for a one-on-one connection, meaning one headset to one tablet. We also recommend not trying to use two separate systems within 150 feet of each other as there is a risk the tablets compete for control of the headset. If you would like to use more than one system at once, please contact Mynd Technical support about upgrading to Mynd Plus.

Typically, once both devices are powered on and showing their respective landing pages, your glasses will show up on the tablet screen in under 5 seconds. Once your glasses are connected, you will be able to switch between videos seamlessly.

Yes, if you are using multiple tablets on the same Wi-Fi network, you can use the "Manage Headsets" button to assign specific headsets to specific tablets.

This button opens a window where users can view all nearby headsets and tablets on the network. From this screen, users can select available headsets and assign them to the tablet they are currently using. This provides complete flexibility to configure which headsets are controlled by each tablet.

Due to a variety of factors, the tablet may occasionally not respond properly when selecting an available headset. If the tablet does not respond when selecting an available headset, we recommend retrying the selection process until the headset appears in the bottom banner of the tablet.

The first step in pairing the equipment is to launch the tablet application and navigate to the landing page that displays “Searching for Headsets.” The tablet must reach this screen before powering on the headset. As long as both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, simply restarting the headset typically resolves most connection issues between the headset and tablet. If you have followed the steps above and are still unable to connect, check inside the headset to ensure you are in the beach scene with the cartoon dog. This is the headset's home page, and it is where you need to be in order for the headset to pair with the tablet. If you are not on the beach, and instead in the library, use the hand controller to select “Mynd Launcher,” which will return you to the beach scene. Once you are in the beach scene, the headset should connect to the tablet. If the tablet and headset still do not connect, make sure that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If either device is offline or connected to a different network, they will not pair. After confirming they are on the same network, launch the tablet application and restart the headset. If you continue to experience connection issues, please contact our support team for further assistance.

The small circular button above the left eye of the glasses is the restart button. To restart the glasses, hold the button down for about 10-15 seconds. A screen appear with several options, but just keep holding the button down until the screen goes black. Once the screen goes completely black, you can let go, and the glasses will restart.

The power button is the smaller button next to the volume control on the upper right of the tablet. Hold the power button down for 3 seconds and a pop-up window will appear with several options including power down or restart. Press the Restart button.

It is best practice to make sure other tablets are completely powered off when not in use. If left on, the tablet will go to sleep, and it may appear as though it is off, however it could still interfere with connections between other equipment. Tapping the power button will tell you if the tablet is asleep or off.

The headset will temporarily disconnect from the tablet when switching apps. Typically, the connection will come back automatically. If the connection doesn’t come back, make sure the glasses are on and check the charge of the battery pack and the tablet. If it still hasn’t connected, then restart the equipment.

This button can be used to re-center the view in the glasses. This is particularly helpful if the headset was powered up while the user had the headset placed at an angle. The re-orient button will shift the view so that the center of focus is aligned with the user's head position.

The ‘mirror screen’ on the tablet displays what the user is seeing in the headset. You can tap and drag the mirror screen to control the view in the glasses. This can be helpful when trying to orient a user who might be lying down or viewing the content from an unusual angle. Tapping the small padlock button will lock/unlock this feature.

The controller is primarily used within the Butterflies application. It can also be used to navigate settings on the headset if needed.

The main button used to operate the controller is the small circular button located at the bottom of the controller. Once the headset is powered on, press and hold this button for about 2 seconds until the controller vibrates and pairs with the headset. Then, hold the button for another 2 seconds to ensure the controller is calibrated properly. If you need to navigate the settings in the headset, you can select icons by using either the trigger on the back of the controller or the large circular button at the top.

These are Diopters: There are two diopters each numbered 0-6 that encompass the eyes of the glasses. You can adjust vision settings by rotating these diopters. 0 is the default view. If you wear these over your prescription glasses, you will likely find the clearest view at 0. If you’d like to remove your prescription glasses, then you can adjust the diopters to a comfortable setting.

There is a volume button on the headset above the left eye. You can toggle this button up or down to adjust the sound that comes from the small speakers in each temple of the headset. The tablet volume does not control the headset volume.

We recommend using the built in microphone in the headset, however if you are trying to limit any external sound/noise you can connect Bluetooth headphones to the headset. To do this, we recommend calling Mynd Technical support who can walk you through how to access the Headset Bluetooth settings.

Your glasses will power up and stay on if connected to the battery pack. To power down the headset, simply unplug the battery from the headset. Please make sure to unplug the glasses from the battery pack after each use otherwise the battery may drain.

Most Mynd+ headsets will power off if the face-sensor on the front of the device is not activated, meaning that when the headset is removed and/or put down it will go into sleep mode within a few seconds. However, in some Mynd+ models (including all recent models) sleep-mode has been deactivated to prevent this, so we recommend ALWAYS unplugging the battery when not in use.

DO NOT leave the headset upside down as this may obstruct the air vent on the top of the headset. If the vent is blocked while the headset is powered on, the headset may overheat.

Yes – we are constantly improve the system and will release regular content and software updates monthly. Typically, these updates will happen whenever the system is powered on and connected to the internet, and for that reason you may not even notice them. For larger updates that may take longer to download, we will send a notice out ahead of time so that the download doesn’t interrupt your regular use of the system.

This can occur if the Wi-Fi has an interruption. Use the handheld controller and select the tile labeled “Mynd Launcher”. This will put it back into the Mynd Immersive software.

This likely means the Headset's internal battery is low. Plug the Headset into the the 100W charging brick for 5-10 minutes to allow it to charge before use.

Your tablet's battery is low. Plug it into the charging block and let it charge for at least 15 minutes. We recommend charging for 1 hour.

There will typically be a brief, delay between the headset and the preview on the tablet (less than half a second delay). If you are experiencing lag times greater than this, your network is likely congested, or your Wi-Fi signal is weak. Move closer to your router if possible and restart both devices. Remember the tablet is a “monitor” - the user in the headset is seeing a clear uninterrupted display.

Commands from the tablet usually take 2-3 seconds to activate. If you experience longer lag times, it is likely due to network congestion or a weak Wi-Fi signal. Move closer to the router and/or restart both devices.

You may have inadvertently swiped on the homepage. Place your finger on the screen and swipe to the right until you see the page with the Mynd Immersive icon. If this does not work, you can find the applications listed alphabetically by placing your finger in the middle of the tablet and then swiping up.
