Frequently Asked Questions

The MyndXR system includes two battery options for powering the Headset:

  1. Black Auxiliary Battery Pack
This battery charges via USB-C. Simply connect a USB-C charging cable to the Auxiliary Battery and plug the other end into the provided charging brick. The battery level will appear on the digital display located on the front of the Auxiliary Battery.
  2. Headstrap Battery
When you receive your MyndXR system, the Headstrap Battery will already be attached to the Headset. To charge it, plug a USB-C cable into the charging port on top of the battery, and connect the other end to the included charging brick.

Important:

  • Before charging, make sure the short cable on the side of the Headstrap Battery is unplugged from the Headset. If this cable remains connected, the battery will continue supplying power to the Headset during charging, which may result in battery drain.
  • To conserve power and avoid startup issues, always unplug the Headstrap Battery’s cable from the Headset when the system is not in use.

See the Training Videos below for more information on charging.

In most cases, your Headset will power on automatically once connected to either the Auxiliary Battery Pack or the Headstrap Battery.

However, if the Headset hasn’t been used for several days, it may take a few minutes to fully power on. If it hasn't been used for multiple weeks, we recommend charging the Headset using the provided charging brick before attempting to use the system.

To charge the Headset directly:

Plug a USB-C cord into the port on the short cord attached to the side of the Headset. Connect the other end to the provided charging brick and plug it into a wall outlet. Allow the Headset to charge for at least 30 minutes before use.

To pair successfully, both the Headset and Tablet must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If they’re not connecting, follow the steps below:

1. Launch the Tablet app

First, launch the Tablet application and navigate to the landing page that displays “Searching for Headsets.” Make sure the Tablet reaches this screen before powering on the Headset. This step is essential to establish a proper connection.

2. Restart the Headset

If both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, restarting the Headset at this point typically resolves most connection issues.

3. Check the Headset display

Once the Headset is on, you should be in the beach scene with the cartoon dog—this is the Headset’s home screen and where you need to be in order for the Headset to pair with the Tablet. If you are not on the beach, and instead in the Library, use the Controller to select “Mynd Launcher.” This will return you to the beach scene, which allows the Headset to pair with the Tablet.

4. Verify Wi-Fi connection and restart devices

If the Tablet and Headset still do not connect, double-check that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If either device is offline or on a different network, they will not pair. After confirming both devices are on the same network, relaunch the Tablet app and restart the Headset.

If you’ve followed all steps and still can’t connect, please contact our support team for additional assistance.

We recommend a minimum download speed of 20 Mbps for optimal performance. However, network quality can also be affected by other factors such as congestion, latency, and distance from the router. Wi-Fi speeds may fluctuate throughout the day and in different areas of a building, which can impact system performance.

Common signs of a weak network connection include:

  • The Headset fails to connect to the Tablet
  • The Headset disconnects from the Tablet when switching between applications
  • The preview window on the Tablet shows a significant delay or an incorrect view

If you suspect network issues, we recommend running a quick speed test on the Tablet by visiting speedtest.net, and sharing the results with our support team.

Reminder: For the system to function properly, both the Headset and Tablet must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

When you select an application on the Tablet, it’s normal for the screen to display “Searching for Headsets” — this happens every time you switch applications. During this time, the Tablet may briefly appear to lose connection as it prepares to launch the new application on the Headset. Loading the selected application typically takes 5–10 seconds.

However, if the application never loads or the Headset completely disconnects from the Tablet, it may indicate a weak or unstable Wi-Fi connection. If this occurs consistently, we recommend running a network speed test on the Tablet and contacting our support team with this information. https://www.speedtest.net.

We highly recommend using fully charged equipment for the best experience. Tablets may experience performance issues if the battery drops below 20%. The Auxiliary Battery or Headstrap Battery will continue to power the Headset until fully drained, but we recommend recharging whichever battery you're using once it reaches 50% to help extend its lifespan.

In most cases, the Headset stays charged through either the Auxiliary Battery or Headstrap Battery, so direct charging isn’t usually necessary.

However, if the Headset hasn’t been used for several days, it may take a few minutes to fully power on. If it hasn't been used for multiple weeks, we recommend charging the Headset using the provided charging brick before attempting to use the system.

No. MyndXR requires an internet connection for the Tablet and Headset to communicate properly.

If you need to operate the system offline, please contact Mynd Technical Support to discuss switching to Mynd Essentials, which is designed for offline use.

Reminder: For the system to function properly, both the Headset and Tablet must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

We strongly discourage using cellular hotspots, as they do not provide the stable connection required for the system to function properly.

If a hotspot is necessary for your setup, please contact us about approved hotspot devices available for purchase through Mynd.

Yes. Simply leave the password field blank, select the network, and confirm the connection.

Yes. MyndXR is designed to allow one Tablet to control up to three Headsets at a time. However, for the best experience and ease of use, we strongly recommend using the system in a one-on-one setting whenever possible.

Typically, once both the Headset and Tablet are powered on and displaying their respective landing pages, the Headset should appear on the Tablet screen within 30 seconds.

Yes. If you are using multiple Tablets on the same Wi-Fi network, you can use the "Manage Headsets" button to assign specific Headsets to specific Tablets.

This button opens a window that displays all nearby Headsets and Tablets connected to the same Wi-Fi network. From this screen, you can select available Headsets and assign them to the Tablet you're currently using. This allows full flexibility in configuring which Headsets are controlled by each Tablet.

Due to a variety of factors, the Tablet may occasionally not respond as expected when selecting an available Headset. If this happens, simply retry the selection process. Continue until the selected Headset appears in the bottom banner of the Tablet screen, indicating a successful connection.

You can use the small circular button above the left eye of the Headset to restart the device. Hold this button down for about 2 seconds, then select "Restart."

The power button is the smaller button located next to the volume control on the upper right side of the Tablet. To restart, hold the power button down for 3 seconds until a pop-up window appears with several options, including Power Off and Restart. Tap the Restart option to reboot the Tablet.

If a Tablet is accidentally left on, it will eventually go into sleep mode and may appear to be off. However, even in sleep mode, it can interfere with connections between other Tablets and Headsets on the same network.

To avoid potential connection issues, it's best practice to fully power off any Tablets not in use. You can check if a Tablet is asleep or off by tapping the power button — if the screen turns on, the Tablet is still on.

The Reorient View button is used to re-center the display in the Headset. This is especially helpful if the Headset was powered on while positioned at an angle. Pressing the button adjusts the virtual environment so that the center of focus aligns with the user's current head position.

The mirror screen on the Tablet displays what the user sees in the Headset. You can tap and drag on the mirror screen to adjust the user’s view in the Headset — this is particularly helpful when the user is lying down or viewing from an unusual angle.

Tapping the padlock button will lock or unlock this ability. When locked, the view cannot be adjusted from the Tablet.

The MyndXR system includes two handheld Controllers. While some applications do not require them, most will require the use of at least one Controller for proper interaction and navigation.

For detailed information on Controller functions and usage, please refer to the MyndXR Application Guide and User Guide.

As long as both the Headset and Controllers are powered on, they should automatically pair with each other.

  • A green light on the front of the Controller indicates a successful connection.
  • A red light means the Controller needs to be charged. Use the provided USB-C cords to charge each Controller individually.
  • A blue light that does not turn green may indicate a pairing issue. Please refer to the Controller section of our User Guide or contact our support team for assistance.

Each lens in the Headset is equipped with a diopter dial labeled 0–6, which allows you to adjust the focus for each eye individually.

A setting of 0 provides the default view and is usually the clearest if you're wearing prescription glasses or contact lenses. If you prefer to use the Headset without glasses, you can adjust the diopters to the setting that feels most comfortable for your vision.

The volume button is the small, thin button located on the top left stem of the Headset, near the left eye. Press the button forward to increase the volume and backward to decrease it.

We recommend using the built-in speakers in the Headset for the best experience. However, if you need to reduce external noise, you can connect Bluetooth headphones to the Headset.

To set this up, we recommend contacting our support team for guidance on accessing the Bluetooth settings on the Headset.

To power down the Headset, unplug the battery from the device. Once disconnected, both the Headset and the battery will automatically shut off after about 10 seconds.

To power down the Tablet, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds, then select Power Off from the pop-up menu.

Most MyndXR Headsets will enter sleep mode when the face sensor on the front of the device is not activated. However, we still recommend unplugging the battery when not in use to fully power down the Headset and preserve battery life.

Important: Do not leave the Headset upside down, as this may block the air vent located on the top of the device. If the vent is obstructed while the Headset is powered on, it may overheat.

Yes. We regularly release software and content updates to improve system performance and enhance the user experience.

Most updates are applied automatically when the system is powered on and connected to the internet, so you may not even notice them. For larger updates that may take longer to download, we’ll send a notification in advance to help you plan and avoid interruptions during regular use.

This can happen if there’s a Wi-Fi interruption. To return to the MyndXR experience, use the handheld Controller to select the tile labeled “Mynd Launcher.” This will relaunch the Mynd Immersive software and restore normal functionality.

This likely means the Headset’s internal battery is low. Plug the Headset into the provided 100W charging brick and allow it to charge for 5–10 minutes before attempting to use it.

This usually means the Tablet’s battery is low. Plug it into the provided charging brick and allow it to charge for at least 15 minutes before attempting to use it. For best results, we recommend charging it for 1 hour.

A slight delay between the Headset and the mirror screen on the Tablet is normal — typically less than half a second. If you notice longer lag times, it may be due to network congestion or a weak Wi-Fi signal. Move closer to your router if possible and restart both devices.

Note: Even if the mirror screen on the Tablet is lagging, the user inside the Headset will still see a clear, uninterrupted display.

Commands from the Tablet usually take 2–3 seconds to register on the Headset. If the Headset isn't responding or there's a noticeable delay, it’s likely due to network congestion or a weak Wi-Fi signal. Try moving closer to the router and restarting both devices.

You may have accidentally swiped away from the home screen. Place your finger on the screen and swipe to the right until you reach the page with the Mynd Immersive app icon.

If you still don’t see it, place your finger in the middle of the screen and swipe up to open the full list of applications, sorted alphabetically. From there, you can locate and open the Mynd Immersive app.
