Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend using fully charged equipment for the best experience. The tablets will experience functional degradation if the battery goes under 20%. The external battery pack will power the headset until it runs out, but we recommend keeping the charge above 50% to preserve the battery's useful life.
The provided charging cords should light up at each end when properly connected to your devices.
The external battery pack will keep the headset charged. Therefore, you typically won’t need to charge the headset. However, if the equipment has not been used for multiple days, it is best practice to leave the headset plugged into the 100W charging brick for 5-10 minutes to allow it to charge before use.
No – Mynd Essentials is designed for a one-on-one connection, meaning one headset to one tablet. We also recommend not trying to use two separate systems within 150 feet of each other as there is a risk the tablets compete for control of the headset. If you would like to use more than one system at once, please contact Mynd Technical support about upgrading to Mynd Plus.
Typically, once both devices are powered on and showing their respective landing pages, your glasses will show up on the tablet screen in under 5 seconds. Once your glasses are connected, you will be able to switch between videos seamlessly.
Restart both devices (see below) If the headset fails to connect after restart, please contact Mynd technical support.
The small circular button above the left eye of the glasses is the restart button. To restart the glasses, hold this button down for about 10-15 seconds. You will see a screen appear with several options, but just keep holding the button down until the screen goes black. Once the screen goes completely black, you can let go, and the glasses will restart.
The power button is the smaller button next to the volume control on the upper right of the tablet. Hold the power button down for 3 seconds and a popup window will appear with several options including power down or restart. Press the Restart button.
This button can be used to re-center the view in the glasses. This is particularly helpful if the headset was powered up whilst the user had the headsets placed at an angle, and
The ‘Mirror screen’ on the tablet displays what is being shown in the glasses. If you tap the small unlock button, you will be able to drag the “mirror” screen, which will then allow you to control the view in the glasses. This can be helpful when trying to orient a user who might be lying down or viewing the content from an unusual angle.
The Mynd Essentials system has been designed so that the headset is fully controlled by the tablet, meaning in most instances the handheld controller is not required. In some technical troubleshooting circumstances, or when software updates are going to be pushed to the headset, the Mynd Technical support team may ask you to use the controller to access the headset settings, for that reason we recommend the controller is stored in the Mynd hardcase.
These are Diopters: There are two diopters each numbered 0-6 that encompass the eyes of the glasses. You can adjust vision settings by rotating these diopters. 0 is the default view. If you wear these over your prescription glasses, you will likely find the clearest view at 0. If you’d like to remove your prescription glasses, then you can adjust the diopters to a comfortable setting.
There is a volume button on the headset above the left eye. You can toggle this button up or down to adjust the sound that comes from the small speakers in each temple of the headset.
We recommend using the built in microphone in the headset, however if you are trying to limit any external sound/noise you can attach Bluetooth headphones to the headset. To do this we recommend calling Mynd Technical support who can walk you through how to access the Headset Bluetooth settings.
Your glasses will power up and stay on if connected to the battery pack. To power down the headset simply unplug the battery from the headset. Please make sure to unplug the glasses from the battery pack after each use otherwise the battery may drain.
Most Mynd Essentials headsets will power off if the face-sensor on the front of the device is not activated, meaning that when the headset is removed and put down it will go into sleep mode within a few seconds. However, in some earlier Mynd Essentials models sleep-mode has been deactivated to prevent this, as such we recommend ALWAYS unplugging the battery when not in use.
Warning: Do not leave the headset upside down as there is a risk this will block the vent on the top of the headset. If the vent is blocked and the headset is powered on and doesn’t go into sleep mode, there is a risk that the headset can overheat.
Mynd Essentials is built for use in an offline environment, meaning that software and content updates are not automatic. If you would like to inquire about content and software updates, please contact the Mynd Technical Support team and we can assist.
No Mynd Essentials is designed to access content stored locally on the headset hard-drive. This is done to maximize speed and efficiency. If you would like to request new or additional content, please contact Mynd Technical Support.
This likely means the Headset’s internal battery is low. Plug the Headset into the provided 100W charging brick and allow it to charge for 5–10 minutes before attempting to use it.
This usually means the Tablet’s battery is low. Plug it into the provided charging brick and allow it to charge for at least 15 minutes before attempting to use it. For best results, we recommend charging it for 1 hour.
A slight delay between the Headset and the mirror screen on the Tablet is normal—typically less than half a second. If you notice longer lag times, it may be due to network congestion or a weak Wi-Fi signal. Move closer to your router if possible and restart both devices.
Note: Even if the mirror screen on the Tablet is lagging, the user inside the Headset will still see a clear, uninterrupted display.
Commands from the Tablet usually take 2–3 seconds to register on the Headset. If the Headset isn't responding or there's a noticeable delay, it’s likely due to network congestion or a weak Wi-Fi signal. Try moving closer to the router and restarting both devices.
You may have accidentally swiped away from the home screen. Place your finger on the screen and swipe to the right until you reach the page with the Mynd Immersive app icon.
If you still don’t see it, place your finger in the middle of the screen and swipe up to open the full list of applications, sorted alphabetically. From there, you can locate and open the Mynd Immersive app.
