Colorway VR - Virtual Art Therapy

Overview
Colorway VR - Virtual Art Therapy is a recreational VR coloring experience that supports relaxation and distraction therapy through creative engagement. Designed for older adults and veterans, it allows users to paint immersive 3D scenes with virtual brushes, fill tools, and paintballs—encouraging self-expression, sensory stimulation, and emotional regulation in a lighthearted, mess-free way.
Controls
This app requires Hand Controllers
To select a menu item, press the Trigger button on the back of the right-hand Controller
How to Use

Select the application
Move your head to aim the gaze-circle at the Colorway VR app, then hold for 2 seconds to select it.

Select a painting scene
Once the app loads, flick the joystick on the right-hand Controller left or right to rotate your view and explore the available painting scenes.
To open a scene, point the right-hand Controller at the scene tile and press the Trigger to select either the New or Continue button. Select New to start a fresh scene, or Continue to return to a previously saved one (the Continue button only appears if a saved version exists).

Moving around a scene
There are 3 ways to move around the scenes: Turning, Teleporting, and Flying.
Turning: Flick the joystick on the right-hand Contoller left and right to rotate your view.
Teleporting: Push and aim the joystick on the left-hand Controller to create a teleportation circle, then release the joystick to move to that location.
Flying: Point the right-hand Controller in the direction you want to move, then press the B button to fly in that direction.

Accessing painting tools
Press the Y button on the left-hand Controller to toggle the painting panel, where you can access all painting tools.​
To pick up a tool, move the right-hand Controller to the desired tool and hold the Grip button to grab it. Release the Grip button to drop it.
While holding a painting tool, aim it at a color on the painting panel and press the Trigger button on the right-hand Controller to select a color.
Use the toggle switch in the bottom-left corner of the painting panel to turn Enhanced Mode on or off. When it’s on, you can choose custom colors and access the brush tool. When it’s off, only preselected colors are available and the brush tool is removed from the panel.
Painting Scenes
There are five unique painting scenes to choose from.
Celestial Chase
Embark on a creative adventure through outer space, where astronauts, spaceships, and asteroids await your colorful imagination.
Crystal Cavern
Explore an underground world filled with glowing gems, ancient cave paintings, and dinosaur fossils.
Muse Gallery
A structured art gallery where you can create framed artworks in a familiar, museum-like setting.
Zen Garden
Step into a serene Japanese-inspired garden, where every brushstroke awakens quiet temples, elegant statues, and the soft beauty of nature.
Tui Park
Take a peaceful stroll through a sunlit park, where green spaces and natural details encourage you to relax and paint at your own pace.

Painting a scene
There are 4 tools that you can use to paint a scene: Brush, Paint Wand, Paintball, and Stricker Wand.
Brush: Move the brush across a paintable surface to paint fine details.
Paint Wand: Point the paint wand at a paintable surface and press the Trigger button to fill the area with the selected color.
Paintball: Hold the Grip button and pull your arm back. Then, swing your arm forward and release the button to throw a paintball. When it hits a surface, it bursts into a colorful splatter.
Sticker Wand: Point the Sticker Wand at a paintable surface and press the Trigger button to place the sticker.

Exit the painting scene
Press the Y button on the left-hand Controller to open the painting panel. Then, point the right-hand Controller at the Lobby button in the top-left corner of the panel and press the Trigger button to select it.
After selecting the Lobby button, you’ll be given the option to Save and Exit to the lobby or Exit without saving. Choose your preferred option to continue.

Exit the application
To exit the app, point the right-hand Controller at the Exit Game button located on the front-left side of the lobby, then press the Trigger button. This will return you to the Mynd Home screen.
